OVERVIEW

Interviews capture the voice unique to each individual and preserve recollections which are often otherwise unrecoverable. The oral history project includes research, conducting interviews, and the preparation of a final transcript, with the goal of completing a lightly edited oral history.

PROCESS

• Preparation: There are several hours of preparation in advance of each interview session; the amount is unique to each project.

• Interview sessions: A standard session is two hours.

• Interview topics (sample)

  • Family stories, family life and childhood; traditional meals and recipes; chores; neighborhood and community

  • Early education/high school/higher education; jobs, hobbies, activities, mentors; religion and religious studies; books, poetry, music

  • Local, national, regional and international events; travel

  • Professional life and philanthropy

  • Hopes and dreams; impact

  • Personal philosophy; plans for the future; advice; legacy

• In addition to a lightly edited oral history, book design can be provided for an additional fee.​
